Further information on Voi e-scooters

There are two types of Voi e-scooters on trial in Bath:

a) Long-term monthly rental e-scooters – can operate on any route suitable for e-scooters within the trial area (now 8 square miles in Bath) and are often used by regular commuters. These e-scooters can be used to travel to and from Claverton Down, via any of the hills and via any campus entrance, and have been available for some time.

b) ‘Hop-on, hop-off’ e-scooters which users pay for on a ‘per use’ basis – the geographical restrictions (‘geofencing’) for these e-scooters is different to the monthly rental scooters. The extension announced on 6th October now enables hop-on, hop-off e-scooters to operate to and from campus, although only via Widcombe Hill. Hop-on, hop-off e-scooters operate from 06.00 – 22.00.

Any problems should be reported, along with the e-scooter reference number, via the Report a Voi page, and the Voi operations team will take swift action. The University will continue to encourage safe and considerate behaviour, and the Voi Safety Pledge confirms that Voi will reward good behaviour and are prepared to take corrective actions with unsafe riders. Some residents have expressed concern about e-scooters being ridden in pedestrian areas and/or parked inconsiderately. We have relayed those concerns to Voi who confirmed that they will be discussed with B&NES, who are monitoring the trial.
