Buses in the West of England are facing many challenges. A critical shortage of bus drivers, passenger numbers 25% down on pre-pandemic levels, spiralling inflation and all covid financial assistance will end in October. This will mean bus cuts in the short term.

On the positive side WECA has secured £105 million for bus services in the region – the second highest in the country – which will kick in next year.

This Summer the Combined Authority is holding a “Network Review” of all bus services.   There will be four public events in the first week of August and also a survey.  The closing date for the survey is 31st August 2022.
